Spanish Assessment

There is a $25.00 fee for assessment. To make payment you need to go to the Cashier's Office or mail in a check or money order with your registration form.

You NEED to take the Spanish placement exam if you:

• Have taken one year or more of Spanish in high school;
• Have taken any Spanish at the college level;
• Speak Spanish at home, are a bilingual or heritage speaker of the language;
• Want to continue your Spanish studies at UW Tacoma.

You do NOT NEED to take the exam if you:

• Have never taken a Spanish class but want to take a Spanish 101 at UW Tacoma;
• Have an AP score of 3 or higher;
• Have met your basic UW language requirement in high school (2 years of the same language) or college and do not plan on taking additional Spanish courses at UW Tacoma.
