Math Assessment
To ensure you enroll in courses best suited for you, you'll take a one-hour math placement exam. There is a $25.00 fee for this assessment. To make payment you need to go to the Cashier's Office or mail in a check or money order with your registration form.
There are two math placement tests:
- Take the Intermediate Algebra Test if you had 3 years of high school math, including either algebra-trig or the 2nd year of high school algebra. The highest you can place with this test is precalculus.
- Take the Advanced Math (precalculus) Test if you had 4 or 5 years of high-school math, including advanced algebra, math analysis, or calculus. The highest you can place with this test is 1st-quarter calculus.
We encourage you to review the sample Advanced Math Placement Test questions as a tool for review prior to testing.
If you have already taken college credit for algebra or calculus, or you received a Calculus AP score of 2 or higher, or an IB Mathematics score of 5 or higher, you are not required to take the assessment. Please remember to bring with you either a copy of your college transcript reflecting college-level math or a copy of your AP (or IB) results reflecting the proper score.
If you need clarification or have questions regarding the Math Placement Test please email or call General Education Center.
